This recreation center for the Henrico County Division of Recreation & Parks is located in one of the few densely wooded sections of a growing, suburban development area. The design capitalizes on expansive views into forested areas at the rear of the building and uses muted, natural earth tone colors to blend with the surroundings. The facility includes public meeting rooms, child-oriented activity spaces, three ballrooms with banquet capabilities, a multi-purpose gymnasium and a great room for public functions. The center is also extremely flexible. The ballrooms and the activity rooms are outfitted with acoustically rated operable partitions, so multiple space configurations are possible.
