The City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities purchased the Southside Community Center in 2014 with visions of a regional park with diversified recreational opportunities. In the spring of 2015, the design team completed a master plan process which included several community input sessions and existing facility assessments. 

The master plan features a skate park, community gardens, and exterior basketball court.  Improvements are planned for the multi-purpose fields and the parking and site circulation.  An addition is proposed for the community center.
