The opportunity to expand with a state-of-the-art aquatics center was gifted to the Shady Grove YMCA by the family of Tommy J. West. Mr. West was a champion for the YMCA, and he wanted the community to have a place where families could be together in a healthy and wholesome environment.

The aquatic center addition features a natatorium with warm water pool. The recreation pool offers two lap lanes, turtle steppingstones, a shallow play area, built-in bench seating with back massaging jets, under water LED color changing lighting, a water basketball hoop, and a double flume waterslide. Adjacent to the pool is a water garden splash pad. Large windows give the natatorium a bright and warm feeling.

Other program spaces include:

• family locker rooms
• steam room and sauna
• expanded wellness center
• music lesson rooms
• massage therapy room

With the new addition, there is a communal place for families of all ages to make the connection between fitness, wellness, and fun.
