The Center for Healthy Hearts, previously the Richmond Area Center for High Blood Pressure, was formed in 1983 as a collaborative effort between the Richmond City Health Department and private corporations. It operates exclusively for the charitable, educational and literary purposes of funding and providing services related to the prevention, treatment and management of hypertension and its related conditions.
In addition to its healthcare services, the center provides a hands-on clinical experience for more than 100 VCU students each year. It also helps student volunteers and interns from VCU and other teaching institutions to meet their academic requirements.
The single story addition provided a new expanded waiting and reception area with upgraded ADA accessibility. Renovations to the existing facility amplified circulation and increased occupancy. They provided an additional examination room, two ADA accessible restrooms, an enhanced lab space and a dedicated pharmacy.
